The Squares Game

A better way to manage online Squares games

The Squares Game helps managers spend less time chasing details and more time enjoying the game.

  • Less manual bookkeeping
  • Live scoreboard and play-by-play
  • Automatic winner calculation
  • Automatic payout amount calculation
  • Player payment tracking
  • Winner payout tracking
  • Manager-connected Stripe card payments
  • Peer-to-peer payment instructions
  • Auto Expand for fundraisers and larger groups

Start with the familiar paper-grid game

Squares is usually played on a 10 by 10 grid. Players claim boxes before the game, numbers are assigned to each team, and winners are determined by matching the last digit of each team's score at selected points in the game.

The original paper version was simple, but manual

In the past, especially at Super Bowl parties, this was often done on paper while everyone was together in the same room. The game was easy to understand, but the manager still had to keep track of who picked each square, when numbers were assigned, and which score digits won.

Online grids can still leave the manager with bookkeeping

Several online versions exist now, but many still leave the manager with a lot of manual tracking. Some only provide a paid checkbox, which does not explain how the player paid or make it easy to match a payment to a person. Some tools may calculate winners, but they still do not track winner payouts, payout status, or how each winner prefers to be paid.

The goal is to let managers have fun too

That is why The Squares Game exists. It is an online Squares game app built so managers can have fun too, not just run the paperwork while everyone else watches the game.

Payment choices are part of the workflow

Managers who connect their own Stripe account can let players pay by card. Stripe account availability depends on Stripe-supported countries and account requirements, including U.S. and Canadian availability. Managers who prefer peer-to-peer payments can save Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Apple Cash, Google Pay, or other instructions so players know how to pay and managers can quickly identify and mark payments.

Live scores keep everyone following the game

A live scoreboard appears on manager and player pool pages with live scores, play-by-play, and live winner tracking, so everyone can see who is winning at the moment. Automatic winner and payout amount calculation means the manager does not need to pull out a calculator or spreadsheet.

Fundraisers are not limited to one board

Players can configure preferred payout instructions, which helps managers know how winners want to be paid. That same automation and ledger tracking makes the app useful for fundraisers, and Auto Expand can open another 100-square round when the first board fills so larger groups are not limited to one 10 by 10 grid.

What The Squares Game helps manage

Easily set up a grid

Pick the sport, choose the game, set the grid rules, and invite players without rebuilding a spreadsheet or paper board.

Make joining simple

Players get a clean passwordless path for reserving squares and following the game from desktop or mobile.

Track the live game

Live score and play-by-play support help everyone follow the game without manually checking scores and updating winners.

Calculate winners and payouts

Winner calculation and payout amount calculation reduce manual math when quarters, halves, or final scores decide the pool.

Manage payments clearly

Managers can use card payments through their own Stripe setup or share saved peer-to-peer instructions for Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Apple Cash, Google Pay, and other methods.

Built for real groups

The app is designed for Super Bowl parties, NFL games, college football, UFL (United Football League), AFL (Australian Football League), pro and college basketball, men's and women's games, office pools, community groups, and fundraisers.
